Modem - Modulator-Demodulator - Electronic Telecommunications Device

A modem is an electronic telecommunications device used to send and receive, encode and decode, digital information over an analog carrier signal. Essentially a modem is a device used to connect computers over telephone or other communication lines. The modem takes digital information from a computer and transmits it via an audio signal to another modem that receives the signal and decodes it back into digital information into another computer.
